NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Susquehanna men's cross country team jumped to fifth in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mideast Region Poll, released Tuesday. The women's team, meanwhile, rose one spot to number seven in the region.
The men jumped two spots to number five after a more than impressive showing at last Saturday's Lock Haven Invitational. The Crusaders ran to a second-place finish, trailing only Division II Lock Haven, and boasted five runners in the top 20.
Ninth-ranked Elizabethtown College remains the only other Landmark Conference men's cross country team to receive a top-10 regional ranking.
The women, meanwhile, jumped one spot to number seven after an equally impressive performance last weekend. The team captured third place with only two Division II teams finishing ahead of the Crusaders.
Like the men, Elizabethtown remains the only other women's team from the Landmark Conference ranked in the top 10 with the Blue Jays remaining fourth in this week's regional poll.
The men's and women's teams return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Paul Short Run.
