Men’s Cross Country Competes at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The No. 29 Susquehanna men's cross country team competed for the first time since earning a national ranking with two races at the Paul Short Run on Saturday.

The Crusaders had 10 runners in the Open Race before going on to a 13th-place finish in the Brown Race, just several points shy of beating Division I schools Holy Cross and Bucknell.

In the Brown Race, Paul Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) led the team with his career-best time of 25:41. Just 10 seconds behind him was Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) (25:51). John Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) posted a time of 25:58 and nine seconds later Colin Eberhardt (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) crossed the finish (26:07).

Dan Isenberg (Danville, Pa./Warrior Run) posted a time of 27:12 and rounding out the top seven were Scott Sullivan (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood0 (27:36) and Evan Skelton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) (27:51).

In the Open Race, Andrew Steely (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) was the team's top finisher with a personal-best time of 28:06 on the 8k course. Justin Skavery (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel) was next across the finish for SU with a time of 28:15.

Torin McFarland (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Robert) posted a time of 28:52 and just six seconds behind him was Pat Brown (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) (28:58). Freshman Eric Pressler (Southampton, Pa./Council Rock North) crossed the finish in 29:32 and also under 30 minutes were Mark Harrel (Clinton, N.J./North Hunterdon) (29:37), Sage Weikel (Pipersville, Pa./Palisades) (29:54) and Matt Pezza (Delran, N.J./Delran) (29:59).

The team is off from action this weekend before returning to competition on Oct. 18 at Gettysburg.
