Kyle Skelton ran across the finish line in 27:42.6 to lead the Susquehanna University Men's Cross Country team to a 15th place team finish in a very competitive field of 25 teams Saturday at the Gettysburg Invitational meet in Gettysburg.
The College of New Jersey was the top collegiate team in the final standings with a score of 54 points. Mount St. Mary's was second with 115 points followed by Ohio Wesleyan (173), DeSales (200), Muhlenberg (224), Southern Virginia (224), Ursinus (256), West Chester (264), Gettysburg (282), St. Bonaventure (292), Roanoke (294), Alderson Broaddus (379), Shenandoah (382) and Susquehanna (434). The River Hawks finished ahead of 10 other teams in the 25-team event.
Skelton was the top Susquehanna runner in 44th place and Eric Pressler was next with a time of 28:32.9 in 76th place. Ciaran Fisher was next in 81st with a time of 28:41.0. Jake Menchey (116th place/29:54.4) and Brandon Sorge (117th/30:02.8) rounded out the scoring for the River Hawks.
Susquehanna will race next at the Ashley Tomlinson Alumni Meet in Susquehanna next Saturday on Homecoming Weekend in final preparation for the Landmark Championship race Oct. 28 at Junuata.
