SU Receives Votes in Latest NCAA Division III Softball Coaches Poll
STARKVILLE, Miss., April 21 -- The Susquehanna University softball team has received votes in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III top-25 poll.
Susquehanna (26-4 overall), the No. 1-ranked team by the NCAA in its first Division III East Region poll of the 2010 season, stands just outside of the NFCA's national top 25 (unofficially 26th) with 12 voting points. The 25th-ranked NFCA team has 15 points.
SU is on a program-record 18-game winning streak. Its 26 wins this season tie for the most in program history.
The team is currently tied with Moravian College for first place in the Landmark Conference with identical 6-0 Landmark records this year. Those teams meet for a doubleheader at SU's Sassafras Fields in Selinsgrove, Pa., on May 1, starting at 1 p.m. That is Senior Day for the Crusaders.
Susquehanna is scheduled to play four other doubleheaders prior to that, starting with a twinbill at Landmark opponent Juniata College on Thursday, April 22, at 3 p.m.
