SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna softball player, Alyssa Cantalini (Kitchener, Ontario / St. David Catholic Secondary), and men’s lacrosse player, Chet McLaughlin (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham), have been named the SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusaders for the week ending April 19.
Cantalini started all six games this week as SU went 6-0. In five of the six games, she had at least one hit, while also scoring eight runs, and tallying five RBI’s. Cantalini only struck out twice and made just one error in the field at third base. Her three doubles and one home run contributed to a .667 slugging percentage.
On the season Cantalini has started in 22 of the 24 games in which she has played. She has 34 hits and a .430 batting average. She has scored 24 runs, has 18 RBI’s, four home runs, nine doubles, and a .696 slugging percentage, as well as a .931 fielding percentage.
The softball team is 20-5 overall with a 9-1 Landmark Conference record. The Crusaders next play Tuesday, April 21 in a home doubleheader against Dickinson.
McLaughlin totaled four points in the overtime win at Scranton on Saturday with two goals and two assists. His second goal was the game winner with 1:15 left in overtime. He went two for three in shots while also picking up three ground balls.
This season McLaughlin has started in nine of the 14 games in which he has played. He is second on the team in points (30), goals (18), and assists (12). He has taken 60 shots (41 on goal) with five man-up goals and 12 ground balls.
The men’s lacrosse team is 11-3 overall and 5-1 in Landmark Conference play. Susquehanna returns home on Saturday, April 25 for a 2pm Landmark Conference game against Catholic.
