youth basketball players and their coaches with free admission to
this Saturday's home Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League
basketball doubleheader vs. Elizabethtown College. The women are
slated for a 1 p.m. start, with the men set for a 3 p.m. tip-off in
Susquehanna's O.W. Houts Gymnasium.
Any boys' or girls' basketball players and coaches from teams high
school-aged and younger will be admitted to the game free by
wearing any clothing identifiable with their team. Area youth
basketball teams in attendance will also be recognized throughout
the games.
Excluding Wednesday's league game at Moravian, the Crusader men
have gotten back into the thick of the Commonwealth League playoff
chase, now in fifth at 3-4 and just a game back of Widener for the
fourth and final playoff spot. The women were 10-6 overall, 5-2 and
tied for second in the Commonwealth League prior to Wednesday's
game at Moravian.
The Elizabethtown women are one of the most storied programs in
college history, now just four wins shy of becoming the first
women's team to record 400 wins. The Blue Jays have won the
Commonwealth League in all five seasons of its existence and are
presently 7-0 and have a two-game lead in the league. At 14-1
overall, Elizabethtown is 13th in the latest Division III national
poll, and second in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The Blue Jay men are
the surprise team of the Commonwealth League, now at 11-4, 5-2 and
in second-place in the league.
