Crusaders Fall to USMMA

KINGS POINT, N.Y. - SU's women's basketball team fell to USMMA 72-64 on Friday evening in Kings Point, N.Y.

Despite holding the Mariners without a bucket for the final five minutes of play, USMMA did manage to sink nine free throws to hang on for the win. The Crusaders did lead 40-35 at halftime but could not hold on for the win.

With the loss, SU falls to 4-15 on the season and 1-7 in conference play.

A pair of freshmen had solid games for the Crusaders as Eleni Dimou scored a team-high 14 points while Jonaida Williams pulled down eight rebounds.

The Mariners out-rebounded SU by 20 boards (54-34) that included 28 offensive rebounds for USMMA.

While Susquehnna limited the Mariners to 34 percent shooting from the floor, the Crusaders sank only 46 percent of their free throws while USMMA sank just under 78 percent of its shots from the charity stripe.

SU returns to action Saturday with a 2 p.m. game at Drew.
