SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna basketball players Angie Schedler and Steven Weidlich have been named SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusaders for the week ending Feb. 21.
Schedler averaged nearly 21 points over three games last week. She totaled double-digit points in all three games with a week-high 29 in a win over Goucher. She shot 40 percent from the floor and three-point range for week and averaged four rebounds per game to go along with nine assists, three steals and two blocks.
This season, Schedler is leading the team in scoring (17.3 ppg) while shooting 40.4 percent from the floor, 33 percent from three-point range and 76 percent from the free throw line. She is also averaging 3.3 rebounds per game and has 54 assists, 14 blocks and 41 steals and is averaging 33.6 minutes per game.
The Crusaders defeated Elizabethtown on Tuesday (72-54) and Saturday (60-59) while also defeating Goucher 65-51 on Wednesday to earn a spot in the Landmark Conference Championships as the No. 4 seed. The team will travel to No. 1 seed Scranton on Wednesday Feb. 24 for a semifinal game at 7:00 p.m.
SU is 17-7 overall and 10-6 in conference action. The team finished 11-2 at home.
Weidlich averaged 21 points over three games this past week, including a 33-point performance against Elizabethtown with nine threes – just one shy of tying SU's single-game record. He shot 35 percent for the week from both the floor and three-point range and went 10-10 at the free throw line. He also average 6.0 rebounds per game and had nine assists with three steals and two blocks.
Weidlich has started all 25 games this season and is averaging 16.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He has 84 assists and 28 steals. He is shooting 32.3 percent from the floor, 43.3 percent from three-point range and 84.4 percent at the free throw line.
SU will be the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Tournament. The No. 18 Crusaders are 22-3 overall with a 13-3 Landmark record.
