Lexi Biggs-Garcia scored eight of her 15 points in the second half and overtime as she helped the Susquehanna University women's basketball team come back from an early deficit to force overtime before Moravian took an early lead in the extra session and escaped with a 76-69 victory in a Landmark Conference game Saturday afternoon in O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.
Susquehanna (10-3 overall 1-1 Landmark) took its first lead of the second half at 49-48 on a Nikki Komara lay up a minute into the fourth quarter. After Moravian (9-3, 1-0) regained the lead, a Janine Conway 3-pointer gave the River Hawks a lead at 59-58 with 3:23 to play in regulation.
Back-to-back jumpers by Komara and Nicole Gault made it a five-point advantage for Susquehanna at 63-58 but the Greyhounds battled back with a 3-pointer and a layup in the final minute to force overtime.
In the extra session, Moravian scored the first four points before a Rachel Sweger 3-pointer cut the lead to a single point. The Greyhounds took advantage of four consecutive missed shots by the River Hawks to put together a 9-0 run that was snapped with nine seconds left by a Biggs-Garcia 3-pointer to close out the scoring.
Komara led the River Hawks with 18 points. Biggs-Garcia and Janine Conway each scored 15 points. Biggs-Garcia had a team-best 11 rebounds while Komara added nine rebounds, four assists and five steals to her totals.
