Villano Leads Susquehanna on Day One of Centennial Conference Championships
HAMPSTEAD, Md. -- The Susquehanna University women's golf team sits in fourth place out of five teams after Day One (of Two) of the 2009-10 Centennial Conference championships, held at Piney Branch Golf Club on April 24.
Susquehanna's team of seniors Rachel Villano [Clayton, Calif./Downingtown West (Pa.)] and Laura Brickley (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and sophomores Alissa Perez (Monmouth Junction, N.J./South Brunswick) and Amanda Keister (State College, Pa./State College) totaled a score of 423 on the par-72, 5,806-yard course.
Franklin & Marshall College leads with a 366 total, followed by McDaniel College (368) and Gettysburg College (395). Dickinson College is in fifth with a 425 total. Ursinus College did not register a team score.
Villano is tied for sixth individually out of 25 players with a 91 card. Franklin & Marshall's senior Grace Gallagher (Scotts Valley, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) leads all players with an 84. The top five finishers after Day Two will earn all-Centennial honors.
Perez shot a 96 on Day One to sit in 11th place. Brickley's 112 is good for 19th, and Keister's 124 puts her 21st.
