SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – An impressive 22 goals helped the Susquehanna women's lacrosse team take down Shepherd University 22-14 on a Saturday road game.
Emma Ehler (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) lead all scorers with a game-high eight goals while Brynn Reid (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) added four and Michelle McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and Erin Dyer (West Caldwell, N.J./ James Caldwell) chipped in with three each. McGinniss also had a team high five draw controls.
Goalie Emily Stankaitis (Honoeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) racked up 17 saves in her 60 minutes of play.
Susquehanna went right to work scoring three consecutive goals in the first seven minutes of the game. The Rams managed to come back with two of their own, however that is as close it would get for Shepherd as Susquehanna maintained a steady lead throughout the rest of the game.
The Crusaders kept Shepherd to a score of three as Susquehanna put together a nice stretch of six goals from four different players to make the score 10-3. Susquehanna went into halftime up 11-5 with a goal from Reid to end the half.
Shepherd started the half with two early goals but had no answer as Susquehanna put together a four goal run with 18:38 to play. The Crusaders maintained a lead of no less than eight for the rest of the game.
Susquehanna will be on the road again on Wednesday against Lycoming at 4 p.m.
