SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Women’s lacrosse and men’s field are represented in this week’s SAAC Super Crusader Awards as sophomore midfielder Emma Ehler (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) and junior thrower Ken Schetroma (Elysburg, Pa. / Southern Columbia Area) have been honored for the week ending April 29.
Ehler was named Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week following the Crusaders’ two victories over McDaniel and Drew.
In the 16-12 win over the Green Terror, Ehler scored a hat-trick, had one assist, recorded six shots, picked up two ground balls and had four draw controls.
At conference foe Drew, she scored five goals on 14 shots, picked up two ground balls and caused one turnover in the 16-12 win.
For the year, Ehler leads the team in goals (55), assists (15), points (70) and shots (151). She has three game-winning goals and has converted 20-of-38 free position shots, another team-best.
Ehler and the Crusaders advanced to the Landmark Conference Championship after beating the Rangers once again, 18-5 on Wednesday. She scored twice and had two assists and three ground balls in the win.
SU travels to Catholic on Saturday, May 5 in search of their first conference title in school history. The game begins at 1:00 p.m.
Schetroma was named the 2012 Landmark Conference Male Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year as well as the Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight time following his performance at the outdoor conference championships at Moravian.
He won the shot put with a personal-best toss of 14.73m and the hammer throw with a mark of 46.76m, another PR. Schetroma also placed fourth in the discus with a personal-best distance of 38.81m.
He helped the men’s team to a second place finish at the meet as head coach Marty Owens and his staff were named Male Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year.
