SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Both lacrosse programs are represented the Pepsi/SAAC Rookies of the Month for March as Annie McElaney (Natick, Mass. / Natick) and Connor Moran (Delafield, Wisc. / Kettle Moraine) were honored for their performances last month.
McElaney has helped lead the Crusaders (10-0, 1-0) to a No. 12 national ranking and is currently third on the team in goals (25) and points (28). She ranks 10th in the Landmark Conference in goals per game (2.50) and points per game (2.80).
In her first collegiate game at Dickinson (W, 18-14), McElaney scored two goals and added one assist. During the Crusaders’ trip to California, she tallied a total of nine goals and one assist as SU went 4-0 on the West Coast.
In SU’s first three home games this season, McElaney has scored five goals with one assist. In the Crusaders’ 15-14 win at McDaniel on March 23, she scored four goals. Playing in her first career Landmark Conference contest, McElaney tallied five goals against Drew (W, 14-4) on March 28.
Moran scored his first career goal on his first career shot in SU’s season-opening win over Lycoming. He finished the contest with two goals on 12 shots and added two assists.
After scoring a combined eight goals in three games against Hood, Shenandoah and Randolph, Moran was named the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the period of March 4-10.
This season, Moran leads the team in shots (73) and is tied for the lead with two game-winning goals. He is second in assists (14) and points (28) and third in goals (14). In the conference, he ranks fourth in shots per game (6.64), fifth in assists per game (1.27) and seventh in points per game (2.55).
Moran and the Crusaders (7-4, 2-1) host conference opponent Washington & Jefferson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
