Women’s Lax Rolls to Win over Moravian

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A season-high 20 goals propelled the Susquehanna women's lacrosse team to a 20-8 victory over visiting Moravian College on a windy Wednesday afternoon.

Eleven Crusaders combined for the 20 goals with five different players scoring at least two goals. Kelcie Ehler and Annie McElaney had four goals each with Ehler also adding two assists. Becky McHugh finished with two goals and two assists while Helena Woytovich and Caroline Rabiecki each added two goals. Goalie Alyssa Rothman had 13 saves on 21 shots.

While Moravian (5-5) took 33 shots to SU's 31, the Greyhounds put only 21 of those on goal while the Crusaders (4-5) had 26 shots on goal. Susquehanna also went 6-9 on free position shots.

SU trailed 1-0 just 68 seconds into the game before rattling off nine unanswered goals over a 15-minute span to lead 9-1.

Moravian scored three straight goals to pull within four (9-5) at the 8:05 mark of the half but the Crusaders closed out the period by scoring four goals, two of which were man-down goals, to take a 13-5 lead into halftime.

The second half saw a decrease in goals but SU still out-scored the Greyhounds by four goals (7-3) to put the game out of reach. SU scored three of the half's first five goals to lead 16-7 and the Crusaders took their first double-digit lead (18-8) on Carly Biegel's goal at the 12-minute mark. Rabiecki and Emily Hoff scored the final two goals of the game for the 20-8 final.

Susquehanna remains at home to host Scranton on April 9 at 1 p.m.
