Ehler Reaches Milestone in Loss

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna junior women's lacrosse player Kelcie Ehler scored her 100th career goal in Saturday's 22-9 home loss to Landmark Conference rival Catholic.

Ehler finished with three goals, as did teammate Annie McElaney. McElaney also added an assist while Becky McHugh chipped in one goal and two assists.

Catholic (6-7, 3-0) had 44 shots to SU's 20 but the Crusader defense forced 21 Cardinals turnovers and the Susquehanna goalies had 10 saves – six from starter Alyssa Rothman and four by Carolyn Figliola, who played the second half. Catholic did win 28-of-32 draw controls.

McElaney opened the scoring with a goal 70 seconds into the game for a 1-0 Crusader lead. Six minutes later, McElaney's second goal of the afternoon tied the game at three before a 3-0 Catholic run made it a 6-3 game midway through the half.

SU pulled within one (6-5) on back-to-back goals by Ehler and McElaney but Catholic scored seven of the half's final eight goals to take a 13-6 lead at halftime.

Caroline Rabiecki netted the first goal of the second half for a 13-7 game but the Cardinals strung together a 6-0 run to pull ahead by 12 (19-7). SU briefly made it a 10-goal game (19-9) with 10 minutes remaining but Catholic ended the game with three unanswered goals for the 22-9 final.
