Capping the Post-Season Awards Venne, Kern, Barrette Earn Honors
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) — Susquehanna University senior power forward Kristen Venne (Shillington/Governor Mifflin H.S.) is now officially a consensus Division III All-American as she is a first-team All-American according to the Division III Basketball Online and Columbus Multimedia, and on the All-American Second Team by the Women’s D III News. Venne was also chosen as Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year by Columbus Multimedia.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.)- Twenty student-athletes from Susquehanna University winter sports teams have earned honors from the Middle Atlantic Conference for their academic excellence.

Venne Kodak All-American One of Top 10 Players
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.)- On the same day that she was honored as the 1999 Jostens Trophy winner as the Outstanding Division III Women's Basketball Player of the Year, and also named a GTE College Division First Team Academic All-American, Susquehanna University senior power forward Kristen Venne (Shillington/Governor Mifflin H.S.) was announced as a member of the 1999 Kodak Division III Women's All-America Basketball Team. The prestigious 10-member squad was selected by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and announced by the organization Thursday evening.

The team was announced today, while Venne received the Josten's Trophy as the Division III Women's Basketball Outstanding Athlete of the Year in Salem, Va.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - Susquehanna University senior power forward Kristen Venne (Shillington/Governor Mifflin H.S.) was the recipient of the Josten's Trophy as the Division III Women's Basketball Outstanding Athlete of the Year Thursday at the Salem (Va.) Civic Center. The recipient of the Jostens Trophy must exhibit excellence in basketball, academics and community service, with all nominations being made by the Chief Executive Officers of the participating NCAA Division III institutions.

Venne Rolls in More Honors Player of Month by One Publication, Player of Week by Another
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - Her season and career may have ended with Wednesday's 66-63 overtime loss to Gwynedd-Mercy in the first-round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, but Susquehanna University All-American senior power forward Kristen Venne of Shillington (Governor Mifflin High School) continues to collect national and regional honors. Venne is the Women's DIII News Player of the Month for February, and the Columbus Multimedia Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Week for her performance in last week's Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - Susquehanna University senior power forward and two-time All-American Kristen Venne (Shillington/Governor Mifflin H.S.) is officially a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League Women's Basketball First Team All-Star throughout her four-year career, while junior center and teammate Karyn Kern (Brodheadsville/Pleasant Valley H.S.) makes the first-team All-Stars after being a second-team pick her first two seasons.

Back in the Big Dance Gwynedd-Mercy-Susquehanna NCAA Tourney Preview
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - The Susquehanna University women's basketball team will play in its ninth NCAA Division III Championship Tournament in program history - the fourth under 12th-year head coach Mark Hribar, but first since 1993 - when it hosts Pennsylvania Athletic Conference runner-up Gwynedd-Mercy College in a first round game this Wednesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. Both teams received at-large bids to the tournament, with Susquehanna seeded fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, while Gwynedd-Mercy is fifth.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - The Susquehanna University women's basketball team has been invited to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament for the ninth time in program history, and fourth time under 12th-year head coach Mark Hribar - but first time since 1993. The 17-9 Crusaders not only received an at-large berth in the 48-team national tournament field, they will be hosting Pennsylvania Athletic Conference runner-up and fellow at-large team Gwynedd-Mercy College (23-4) in a first round game this Wednesday, March 3, at 7 p.m.

Hribar Goes for 200 or Bust Susquehanna-Scranton MAC Semifinal Basketball Preview
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - The Susquehanna University women's basketball team will travel to its old nemesis the University of Scranton for a Middle Atlantic Conference semifinal game Thursday, February 25, at 7 p.m. Susquehanna advanced to the game with an 82-71 overtime win over defending MAC champion Allentown Thursday, while Scranton beat Commonwealth League fourth-seed Lebanon Valley, 71-58.

Teaming with Honors Kern, Venne Pull Down More Weekly Honors
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - Susquehanna senior power forward Kristen Venne (Shillington/Governor Mifflin H.S.) and junior center Karyn Kern (Brodheadsville/Pleasant Valley H.S.) form one of the best low-post combinations in the NCAA Division III women's basketball ranks. They certainly proved that last week as Kern is the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League Player of the Week and joins Venne as the first teammates to ever appear together on the Division III Basketball Online's National Team of the Week.

Crusader Women Play Playoff First Host Allentown Tuesday
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - The Susquehanna University women's basketball team (16-8) will host defending Middle Atlantic Conference champion Allentown College (15-9) in a MAC quarterfinal Tuesday, February 23, at 7 p.m. Susquehanna was second in the MAC Commonwealth League, while Allentown was third in the Freedom League. This will be the first playoff meeting between these two teams, and just the third overall.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - The Susquehanna University women's basketball team clinched second-place in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League with Wednesday's 83-66 win over Albright, coupled with Messiah's 59-42 loss at Moravian, and will host a MAC quarterfinal game next Tuesday.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - The Susquehanna University women's basketball team has clinched a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League playoff berth for a 10th-straight season and could possibly finish second in the league and host a first-round playoff game next Tuesday, February, 23, if its wins its final two league games this week.

Barrette, Venne Pull Double Honors Both Make MAC Honor Roll
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - Susquehanna University senior post player Mike Barrette (Dunmore/Dunmore H.S.) is on this week's Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Honor Roll, while Crusader senior Kristen Venne (Shillington/Governor Mifflin H.S.) is on the MAC Women's Honor Roll. Venne has now earned MAC weekly honors in five of the past seven weeks - earning Commonwealth League Player of the Week in the previous four - and seven times this season. Barrette, meanwhile, earns MAC honors for the first time in 1998-99.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - The first 800 fans attending Susquehanna's University's Pepsi Day women's/men's basketball doubleheader vs. Widener this Saturday, February 13, will be treated to a free hot dog and Pepsi, courtesy of the Pepsi-Cola Company in Selinsgrove, Weis Markets, Kunzler's Hot Dogs, the ARAMARK Co., and WKOK/WQKX-Radio. The women's game is set to begin at 1 p.m., with the men slated for a 3 p.m. start at Susquehanna's O.W. Houts Gymnasium.

Venne Owns League Honors Senior Forward League Player of the Week Again
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - You might say that Susquehanna University's All-American senior power forward Kristen Venne of Shillington (Governor Mifflin High School) has been on quite a roll lately. Aside from the fact that she's scored in double figures in 32-straight games and posted eight-straight double-doubles in points and rebounds - and 10 in the last 11 games - she became the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League Player of the Week for the fourth time in the past five weeks on Monday.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) -- Susquehanna University will honor area youth basketball players and their coaches with free admission to this Saturday's home Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League basketball doubleheader vs. Elizabethtown College. The women are slated for a 1 p.m. start, with the men set for a 3 p.m. tip-off in Susquehanna's O.W. Houts Gymnasium.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) -- Susquehanna University senior power forward and tri-captain Kristen Venne of Shillington (Governor Mifflin High School) is the Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time in four weeks. She also is on the Division III Basketball Online Team of the Week for a third time this season, and is the first WQSU-FM Player of the Week. Venne earned honors after posting double-doubles in points and rebounds while averaging 18.0 points and 15.5 boards in two league victories last week.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) -- Susquehanna University junior center Karyn Kern (Brodheadsville/Pleasant Valley H. S.) is the NCAA Division III leader in field goal percentage according to the latest statistics, which cover games through January 17. The 6-2 Kern, who led the MAC in field goal percentage last season and finished second as a freshman, is presently shooting 67.2 percent from the field (90 or 134).

Messiah-Susquehanna Off Again Game to Be Rescheduled for Jan. 25
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - Due to today's winter travel conditions, the Messiah at Susquehanna men's basketball game has been postponed for a second straight day. The game, which was originally postponed last night when Messiah was unable to make it to Selinsgrove because it was stuck in traffic on Route 15, has been rescheduled for Monday, January 25. Since the Susquehanna women's team was already scheduled to host the University of Scranton on that night, the addition of the men's game will now make that date a men's/women's doubleheader. The men's game will start at 6 p.m., with the women's game scheduled for 8.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) -- Susquehanna University senior power forward and tri-captain Kristen Venne of Shillington (Governor Mifflin High School) is on the Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Honor Roll for a second-straight week after leading her team to a key MAC Commonwealth League win over Lebanon Valley, and then scoring a team high 17 in Saturday's loss at Western Maryland.

Hoops Help the Cause Kiwanis K.I.D.D.'s Hoop Tourneys Set for Weekend
SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) -- Susquehanna University will once again play host to the Second Annual Susquehanna Kiwanis K.I.D.D.'s (Kiwanians against Iodine Deficiency Disorder) Men's and Women's Basketball Tip-Off Tournaments this Friday through Sunday, November 20 through 22. The host Crusaders will battle teams from Marietta College, the College of Staten Island and SUNY-New Paltz for the title on the men's side Friday and Saturday, with teams from Holy Family College, Thiel College and Russell Sage Colleges joining the host Crusaders in the women's tournament Saturday and Sunday.
