SU Takes Non-Conference Game from Baptist Bible (Pa.), 73-50

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's sophomore guard Korey McCaffrey (Millheim, Pa./Penns Valley Area) came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points, and visiting Susquehanna topped Baptist Bible College (Pa.), 73-50, in a non-conference women's basketball game at Phelps Student Center on Nov. 24.
Baptist Bible (0-1 overall) led, 17-16, after a traditional three-point play midway through the first half until SU (3-1 overall) scored the next 10 points to take a lead that it never relinquished.
The Crusaders, who used all 16 of their players, led, 29-21, at halftime. The 23-point margin of victory was the game's largest lead.
Susquehanna's junior forward/center Samantha Cartwright (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) narrowly missed a double-double, registering eight points and a game-high nine rebounds. Cartwright also tied for the game-high with two assists and three steals. Teammate and junior guard Rachael Hughes (Gordon, Pa./North Schuylkill) also handed out two assists and added nine points and four rebounds.
Crusaders senior guard Ashley Watkins (La Habra Heights, Calif./Rosary) tallied nine points as well.
Baptist Bible's senior guard Laurie Plante (Montreal, Quebec/Curee-Antione-Labelle) and junior guard/forward Marlie Kneifel (Kouts, Ind./Kouts) both scored a game-high 14 points. Plante made a game-high four three-pointers (on six attempts) and added three rebounds, while Kneifel had two rebounds and two steals.
Teammate and senior guard/forward Joy DeLeonardis (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) scored 12 points and pulled down three rebounds, and sophomore guard Laura Hodupp (St. Petersburg, Fla./Keswick Christian) grabbed a team-high eight boards to go with three points.
Sophomore forward Kellie Bernard (Swayzee, Ind./Homeschooled) led the Defenders with two assists, while freshman guard Kelly Bargfeldt (Lafayette, Ind./Faith Christian) made three steals to go with five points and two rebounds.
The Crusaders dominated the boards, 38-24, and shot 54.2 percent from the floor to 30.5 percent for Baptist Bible.
