SU SAAC Conducts "Crusaders Care" Canned Goods Drive at Women's Basketball Game on Dec. 12

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The Susquehanna University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is conducting its annual "Crusaders Care" canned goods drive at Susquehanna's women's basketball game against Montclair State University at SU's Orlando W. Houts Gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m.

Free admission is available for all fans that day who bring a canned good or other dry, non-perishable food item to the admissions table. Otherwise, the price for admission is $5 per adult and $2 per student. SU students, faculty and staff (with proper ID) are admitted free of charge, as are all children under the age of 6. Nonetheless, all fans in attendance are encouraged to make a donation.

All food collected at the game will be donated to the Haven Ministry Center in Sunbury, Pa., and the Selinsgrove Kitchen Cupboard, run through local St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

The role of the SAAC is to act as the liaison between the student-athlete and the Athletics department. SAAC will address the needs, concerns and wants of student-athletes in regard to collegiate athletics programs, academic pursuits, campus life and community initiatives.

The goals of the SAAC are to promote unity between teams, encourage participation at athletics events and recognize athletes. The SAAC is also responsible for organizing a minimum of one community-service project per year in which all SAAC members are expected to participate.
