SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Sophomore midfielder Sarah Wright
(Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS)and freshman midfielder Ally Bauer
(Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) each scored a goal, but host Susquehanna
University was unable to keep up with nationally ranked No. 11 The
Catholic University of America, dropping a 17-2 decision in a
Landmark Conference game at Sassafras Fields on April 4.
Wright put Susquehanna (6-3 overall, 0-1 Landmark) on the board
with 10 minutes, 57 seconds remaining in the first half following a
10-goal Catholic (10-2 overall, 2-0 Landmark) run on an assist from
senior midfielder Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley).
With 11:25 lingering in the second period of play, Bauer was
unassisted in scoring the Crusaders second and final goal of the
game.
After giving up 14 first-half goals, Susquehanna was able to hold
the Cardinals to just three second-half scores.
Deese and sophomore midfielder D.J. Jacobs (Sparta, N.J./Sparta)
each scooped up a team-high four ground balls apiece, while
freshman midfielder Caroline Sisson (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh)
tallied three for the Orange and Maroon. Deese and Wright both had
a game-high four draw controls. Wright led the host team with two
caused turnovers.
Senior Meredith Tompeck (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) suffered the
loss in goal, making 11 saves in all 60 minutes.
