April 18 (Senior Day): Susquehanna 5, Drew 16
SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's sophomore
midfielder Sarah Wright (Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS) notched two
goals and one assist, but host Susquehanna lost a Landmark
Conference game to Drew University, 16-5, on Senior Day at
Sassafras Fields on April 18.
Three others netted a goal apiece for Susquehanna (6-6, 0-4
Landmark), including senior midfielder Katelyn Deese (Malvern,
Pa./Great Valley), who was playing in her final collegiate home
game. Deese caused a turnover and added one draw control and a
game-high seven groundballs against Drew (8-6, 4-0 Landmark).
Sophomore midfielder Sara Franckowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon
Central) and freshman midfielder Erin Dyer (West Caldwell,
N.J./James Caldwell) both scored a goal and made an assist.
Trailing 2-0, Desse put the Crusaders on the board just over seven
minutes into play on a pass from Franckowiak. The visiting squad
responded to find the back of the net once before Dyer answered
with an Orange and Maroon goal on a free-position shot.
Also playing in her final game at Sassafras Fields, Cindy Wilson
(West Chester, Pa./Henderson) won a draw control with 17 minutes,
16 seconds remaining in the first period of play that led to Wright
feeding Franckowiak the ball, good for the Crusaders final goal of
the half. Drew led, 11-3, at the break.
The Rangers opened the second stint of play with three straight
before Wright scored back-to-back goals. Dyer assisted on her
first, but Wright drove in her second, unassisted.
The visiting squad managed to net a pair of goals before time
expired to earn a 16-5 win.
The Crusaders third and final senior Meredith Tompeck (Randolph,
N.J./Randolph) suffered the loss in goal despite making a game-high
12 saves in all 60 minutes.
