April 8: Susquehanna 6, Scranton 17

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's freshman midfielder Ally Bauer (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) and sophomore midfielder Sarah Wright (Princeton, N.J./Princeton HS) both notched one goal and one assist, but visiting Susquehanna lost a Landmark Conference game to The University of Scranton, 17-6, at Fitzpatrick Field on April 8.

Bauer scooped up a team-high four draw controls against Scranton (5-3, 2-0 Landmark) in this game. Wright now leads the Crusaders (6-4, 0-2 Landmark) with 24 goals, 12 assists and 36 points this season.

Also scoring one goal for SU in this game were senior midfielders Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and Cindy Wilson (West Chester, Pa./Henderson), sophomore midfielder Sara Franckowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) and freshman midfielder Erin Dyer (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell).

Deese, who leads the team with 24 caused turnovers this year, led all players with five caused turnovers in this game. She also collected six ground balls. Teammate and sophomore midfielder Corinne Woodward (Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional) picked up a game-high seven ground balls.

Senior Meredith Tompeck (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) suffered the loss in goal despite making a game-high 22 saves in all 60 minutes.

The Royals scored the first four goals of the game and never trailed. They led, 12-4, at halftime.

The Crusaders stayed in the game by scoring every other goal late in the first half and into the early part of the second half, but Scranton ended that trend with three straight scores for a 15-5 lead with 16 minutes, 7 seconds left in the contest.
