Senior Day: Susquehanna Women Go to 8-2 with Sweep of Drew and King's (Pa.)

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) swam all or part of the fastest times in four events, including a school-record performance in the 500-yard freestyle, and Susquehanna (8-2) topped visiting Drew University (2-9), 80-31, and King's College, Pa. (6-8), 85-36, in a women's tri-meet at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex swimming pool on Jan. 23.
Savard won two individual events, taking the 200 butterfly with a time of 2 minutes, 17.21 seconds before winning the 500 free in 5:22.21. Charlotte Murray '01 Reemts held the old Susquehanna standard in the 500 free with a mark of 5:24.26, set in 1999.
Savard also started off the meet as a leg on SU's winning 200 medley relay. She joined seniors Cristina Los (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) and Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) and fellow junior Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa/Freedom) to post a time of 1:56.46. The team of Savard, Harris, freshman Devin Lessard (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) and senior Hayley Keenan (Pikesville, Md./Liberty HS) touched the wall first in the 200 free relay as well with a 1:47.70 time.
Los and Lessard were part of four fastest finishes as well, including three individual races. Los registered the best times in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes (1:12.76 and 2:38.26, respectively) and the 200 individual medley (2:28.31). Lessard won the 100 and 200 frees (58.36 seconds and 2:06.39, respectively) and the 100 butterfly (1:04.01).
Keenan captured the 100 and 200 backstrokes with respective times of 1:03.63 and 2:17.65.
Drew defeated King's, 57-54.
