Women's Swimming Defeats McDaniel, 75-46, and Juniata, 90-21

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's junior
Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) was or all
or part of the fastest times in four events, including a
school-record-breaking 200-yard individual-medley performance, to
help Susquehanna beat visiting McDaniel College (1-1), 75-46, and
Juniata College (0-4), 90-21, in a women's tri-meet at the James W.
Garrett Sports Complex swimming pool on Oct. 31.
Savard broke the Susquehanna (3-0) record in the
200 IM with a time of 2 minutes, 17.62 seconds. She held the old
record of 2:17.83, set last season. Savard also
won the 100 and 200 backstrokes in 1:01.64 and 2:11.38,
respectively, and teamed with freshman Devin Lessard
(Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County), senior
Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place)
and freshman Abby Gernert (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower
Dauphin) to record the fastest 200 freestyle relay
(1:48.24).
Lessard also won the 200 butterfly and 500 free
in times of 2:13.68 and 5:26.88, respectively, while also teaming
with Harris, Hayley Keenan (Pikesville,
Md./Liberty HS) and Cristina Los (Succasunna,
N.J./Roxbury) to win the 200 medley relay in 1:58.49.
Lessard's 2:13.68 in the 200 fly broke the
previous school record set by Savard last season
(2:20.93).
Harris also won 50 free and 100 fly in times of
26.13 seconds and 1:04.45, respectively.
Junior Lauren Snyder (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) swam the fastest 200 free in 2:06.26, and freshman Jamie Platt (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) clocked in at 58.20 seconds to claim first in the 100 free.
McDaniel defeated Juniata, 82-31.
