SU Dominates Messiah, 152-85
SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University (6-2) posted the fastest time in every race that it entered en route to a 152-85 victory over visiting Messiah College (2-7) in a women's meet at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex swimming pool on Jan. 15.
Susquehanna's senior Cristina Los (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) and freshman Devin Lessard (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) both won two individual events and swam a leg on a winning relay.
Junior Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa/Freedom) opened the meet with the lead-off leg of the 200-yard medley relay. Los, Lessard and senior Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) followed, in order, to record a time of 1 minute, 57.87 seconds.
Los also won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes with times of 1:13.48 and 2:39.64, respectively, while Lessard won the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle in 2:17.56 and 5:26.52, respectively.
Harris claimed first place in the 50 free in 25.90 seconds and swam the fastest time in the 100 fly (1:04.44).
Not to be outdone, teammate and junior Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) won both the 100 and 200 frees with respective times of 56.78 seconds and 2:01.05. Savard also swam the best mark in the 200 individual medley (2:18.91).
SU seniors Hayley Keenan (Pikesville, Md./Liberty HS) and Lauren Kintzing (Longmont, Colo./Fairview) and freshman Abby Gernert (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) each won one race. Keenan and Gernert won the 100 and 200 backstrokes in 1:03.39 and 2:23.48, respectively, while Kintzing claimed the 1,000 free in 12:13.81.
