Hoover Named Head Women’s Soccer Coach
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Nick Hoover has been named the head women’s soccer coach for Susquehanna University, announced on Monday.
“I am very thankful for my experiences under Coach (Jim) Findlay, both working and playing for him,” Hoover said. “I want to give back to SU and I am excited to work with the great nucleus of returning players next season and have the chance to be atop the Landmark Conference.”
“I am grateful for the mentoring Findlay provided me and the opportunity that SU Athletic Director Pam Samuelson has given me,” he continued.
Hoover was the associate head women’s coach at SU in 2011, helping guide the Crusaders to a 7-8-3 record and earning the third seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs.
Hoover was also an assistant coach for the men’s soccer
team under Findlay from 2010 to 2011. He guided the 2010 squad to
an 11-7 record and the 2011 team to an 8-9-1 mark with playoff
appearances in both seasons.
“Nick has made significant contributions to SU both as a
student-athlete and a coach,” SU Director of Athletics Pam
Samuelson said. “He is a quality individual that truly loves
the institution. Nick did a terrific job serving as associate head
women’s soccer coach this past season and I am confident he
will provide the leadership to keep the women’s soccer
program moving forward.”
A 2006 graduate of Susquehanna with a degree in public relations, Hoover played goalkeeper from 2002 to 2005 under Findlay and was named team captain his senior year. He was also a member of the swim team from 2002-06 and was a captain his junior and senior seasons.
At the high school level, he was a goalkeeper coach at Mount St. Joseph’s Academy in Flourtown, Pa. from 2009 to 2010.
While pursuing his Master’s degree in education at Westminster College from 2006 to 2008, he was an assistant on both the men’s and women’s soccer programs as well as the goalkeeper coach for both teams.
