Women’s Soccer Selected to Finish Sixth in Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna women's soccer has been selected to finish sixth in the 2016 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, released Monday morning.

The River Hawks nabbed 18 votes to put them ahead of Drew (17 points) and Juniata (11 points). Scranton, the 2015 Landmark Conference runner-up, has been picked to finish first with 66 points and five first-place votes. Catholic – which won the Landmark Championship last season – is slated for second with 62 points and the remaining three first-place votes. Elizabethtown is third (46 points), Moravian fourth (32 points) and Goucher fifth (20 points).

SU finished last season 9-7-2 overall with a 2-5 mark in conference action. Susquehanna returns two All-Landmark Conference players in First Team defender Marissa Heddings and Second Team goalie Jordyn Slocum.

SU opens the season on Thursday, September 1 when the team hosts Lycoming at 7:00 p.m.
