Back-to-Back Wins for Women’s Soccer

SUNDAY'S STORYLINE: The Susquehanna women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-1 home victory over Albright on Sunday afternoon.

TEAM RECORDS: The River Hawks are 2-0 while the Lions fall to 0-2.

DID YOU KNOW? This is the first time since 2012 that SU has opened its season with a 2-0 start. The four goals are also the most in a single game since a 4-1 win at Delaware Valley on Oct. 8, 2014.

THE TURNING POINT: With 14:36 to play in the first half, Albright's Erica Bross received a red card, forcing the Lions to play a man-down for the remainder of the contest. Albright was leading 1-0 at the time but following the ejection, the River Hawks went on a 4-0 run, including two goals over a two-minute span late in the first half.

: Freshman Alee Pettit tied the game at one with a goal in the 35th minute before classmate Julia Hutsko netted what proved to be the game winner in the 37th minute.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:  Susquehanna took 16 shots to Albright's seven and put 11 of those shots on goal. Goalie Jordyn Slocum was forced into making just two saves as the Lions had just three shots on goal all afternoon.

Cassie Coombs assisted on two of SU's four goals and added a goal of her own. Alex Edelman accounted for the other goal.

FAST START FOR FRESHMEN: Pettit and Hutsko have combined for seven points in just two games. Pettit has one goal and one assist while Hutsko has two goals.

UP NEXT: The River Hawks hit the road for three games, beginning Sept. 7 with a 6 p.m. game at Misericordia.
