Women’s Soccer Suffers First Loss of the Season

THE STORYLINE: Despite holding Misericordia scoreless for the entire second half, the Susquehanna women's soccer team could not overcome a 2-0 first half deficit, falling 2-0 at the Cougars.

TEAM RECORDS: The River Hawks suffered their first loss of the season, dropping to 2-1 overall. Misericordia, meanwhile, improves to 3-0 on the season.

DESPITE THE LOSS…SU's 2-1 start to the season is its best since going 3-0 to start the 2012 campaign.

SOME TEAM STATS: The Cougars out-shot Susquehanna 23-5. Misericordia took 13 of those shots in the second half but put none in net. While fouls were even at four apiece, the Cougars had six corner kicks to SU's none.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE FOR SU: Five different players took the River Hawks' five shots and Susquehanna put four of those five shots on goal. Goalie Jordyn Slocum played all 90 minutes and came up with a season-high eight saves.

THE SCORING: Alex Gallagher accounted for both of Misericordia's goals. She scored in the 15th minute and again in the 24th minute with an insurance goal. She finished with five shots and teammate Ashley Edgell took a game-high seven shots.

WHAT'S NEXT: The River Hawks hit the road to face Penn State-Harrisburg on Sept. 10 at 12 p.m.
