Alyssa Bolger Scores to Keep Women’s Soccer Undefeated

Alyssa Bolger scored in the first five minutes of the game and the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team held the lead for the entire game for the 1-0 victory Wednesday night over Wilkes University to remain undefeated in the non-conference game at Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.

Susquehanna (7-0-1), ranked No. 7 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings, continued its best start in school history and remains unbeaten as the Landmark Conference schedule begins this weekend.

Bolger netted the only goal of the game just five minutes into the first half as Kate Cantrell sent the ball into the box and Bolger headed the ball over the keeper's hands.

Wilkes (4-1-1) suffered its first loss of the season and had all six of its shots in the first half of play. Each team finished with six shots as Susquehanna had three in each half.

Julia Tolin was only credited one save but stopped several scoring opportunities by the Colonels.

Susquehanna opens conference play at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Catholic. Both teams are regionally ranked by the United Soccer Coaches.
