Alyssa Bolger and Emily Sullivan each scored goals as the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team posted a 2-0 win over Juniata College Wednesday night in a Landmark Conference game on a very rainy Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
Susquehanna (11-2-1 overall, 3-1-0 Landmark Conference) took the lead early over Juniata (8-5, 2-2-0) in the eighth minute of play when Bolger took a pass from Cassandra Coombs in the box and fired the ball past the Juniata keeper.
The teams played evenly through the remainder of the first half with the rain coming down heavier in the last few minutes of the period.
Less than two minutes into the second half and the rain continuing to fall heavily, Sullivan chipped a ball past the Juniata keeper after receiving a pass from Kate Cantrell.
The River Hawk defense only allowed one shot during the entire second half of play and Jennifer Thorsheim recorded three saves in the net.
The River Hawks continue Landmark Conference play at 1 p.m. Saturday with Drew on the home turf of Sassafras Field
