Swimming, Basketball Represented in Super Crusaders Awards

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Christie Savard of the women’s swim team and J.T. Wilson of the men’s basketball team were named the SAAC Super Crusaders for the week ending Feb. 13.

Savard’s honor comes following a weekend in which the SU women captured their first-ever Landmark Conference championship, during which Savard combined for four first-place finishes, earning her First-Team All-Conference Honors.

The senior claimed first in the 200 backstroke with her NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:05.28. She then set a school record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.60. In addition, she was a member of the winning 400 free and 800 free relay squads.

Wilson, meanwhile, combined for 37 points in two games last weekend. He also chipped in 20 rebounds as SU split its pair of Landmark Conference games. Against Scranton, he scored 15 points and added a game-high 15 rebounds. The following afternoon, he finished with a game-high 21 points to go along with five rebounds.

Through 24 games this season, Wilson is averaging 12.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He has 14 assists, three blocks and nine steals and is shooting 42 percent from the floor. The Crusaders play their final game of the 2010-11 season on Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. game at Juniata.
