SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior cross country runner Ian Quinlan (Eagle View, Pa./Methacton/Lehigh) and senior swimmer Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) picked up their first SAAC Super Crusader Awards of the season.
Quinlan earned the honor following his performance at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships last Saturday. He was SU’s top male finisher with a time of 25:57.0 on the 8k course to finish 24th overall in the field of 316 competitors. Quinlan’s performance also earned him a NCAA Championship berth, as he will compete next weekend in Waverly, Iowa.
Quinlan is one of two SU runners who qualified for the NCAA Championships, as senior Alycia Woodruff will also make the trip to Iowa on Saturday.
Savard had a solid showing for the Crusaders at last Saturday’s quad meet, hosted by York (Pa.). She swam to a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:12.15, three seconds better than the second-place finisher from Dickinson. She was also a member of the 400 medley relay team that won with a time of 4:15.23. Savard finished third in the 200 IM as just two-tenths of a second separated her from the second place swimmer.
