Crusader Swimmers Victorious Against Marywood
SCRANTON, Pa. -- Susquehanna's men's and women's swim teams both defeated Marywood in Landmark Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Marywood Aquatic Center.
SU combined to take down Marywood 254-145. The men (4-1, 3-1) defeated the Pacers by a score of 131-53. The women (4-1, 3-1) won 123-92.
In the women's 200 yard medley relay, SU won with a time of 1:59.72 behind Michelle Delgado (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area), Maggie Hess (Wolfeboro, N.H. / Brewston Academy), Avanti Banks (East Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) and Kyle Seaman (Moreland Hills, Ohio / Orange).
Delgado also went on to win in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:19.37.
Annie Bruxelles (Hockessin, Del. / Sanford School) and Sam Meringolo (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) both set personal-bests in the 50 free with respective times of 26.61 and 28.37. Bruxelles also set a p.r. in the 500 yard freestyle with a mark of 5:46.17.
Dana Pontecorvo (New Providence, N.J. / Mount St. Mary Academy) won the 1,000 free with a mark of 11:12.79. She set a PR in the 100 yard free, finishing in 1:00.60
Alyssa Hess (Easton, Pa. / Wilson Area) set a PR of her own during the 1,000 yard free in 12:10.59 as did Rebecca Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn. / Ridgefield), who finished in 12:35.15.
Lexi Cole (Danville, Pa. / Danville) took first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.09. She won in the 500 yard freestyle as well, posting a mark of 5:29.13. Laura Micali (Brentwood, N.H. / St. Thomas Aquinas) set a P.R. in the 200 yard free with a time of 2:15.71.
In the 200 yard IM, Devin Lessard (Chestertown, Md. / Queen Anne's County) came in first with a mark of 2:19.18. She also won the 200 yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:14.52.
Banks posted a personal-best time in the 200 fly, posting a mark of 2:45.45.
Nicole Caviris (Rollingsford, N.H.) placed second in one meter diving, recording a score of 135.40.
In the men's 1,000 yard freestyle, James Partain (Bound Brook, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) won with a time of 11:03.28, a career-best mark.
Tyler Long (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) placed first in the men's mixed 200 yard freestyle, recording a time of 1:55.46. He also reached a PR in the 200 yard mixed backstroke with a mark of 2:23.50.
Shawn Entenman (Southampton, Pa. / Holy Ghost Prep) recorded a personal-best time in the 200 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 2:01.38.
Josh Heller (Rockville, Md. / Colonel Zadok Magruder) came in first place in the 50 yard freestyle, posting a time of 20.67. He also won the 100 yard freestyle, recording a mark of 47.90.
In the 200 yard IM, Cameron Boster (Burke, Va. / Robinson Secondary School) won with a mark of 2:07.48. Laurence Abel (Westport, Conn. / Staples) set a personal-best in the race, recording a time of 2:19.69.
In the 200 yard butterfly, Chadd Lee (Bloomsburg, Pa. / Bloomsburg Area) won with a time of 2:03.86 while Tyler Patrick (Mount Laurel, N.J. / Lenape) took home the mixed 200 yard backstroke, registering a time of 2:05.76.
Ian Woodcock (Milton, Pa. / Milton) came in first in the 500 free with a time of 5:19.74, a personal-best. He also set a PR in the 200 fly with his time of 2:09.19.
The Crusaders came up victorious in the 200 yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:35.18 behind swims from Taylor Cole (Danville, Pa. / Danville), Michael Inglesby (Hawley, Pa. / Wallenpaupack Area), Matthew Weller (Ringwood, N.J. / Lakeland Regional) and Long.
Weller set a PR in the 500 yard free with a time of 5:20.75.
Michael Yoder (Northumberland, Pa. / Shikellamy) won the one meter dive with a score of 151.70.
The swim teams hit the water next Saturday, Jan. 21, as they host Landmark opponents Drew and Juniata at 2 p.m.
