Cole, Seldon Named Rookies of the Month
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Swimmer Lexi Cole (Danville,
Pa./Danville Area) and basketball player Tony
Seldon (Bloomfield, Conn./Northwest Catholic) have been
named the SAAC Rookies of the Month for February.
Cole was named the Landmark Conference Female
Rookie of the Year after helping the Crusaders capture their
second-straight league title. At the championship meet, she swam
the second leg of the runner-up 200 free relay team and swam the
first leg of the second-place 400 medley relay team. Cole went on
to anchor the winning 800 relay team and swam the second leg of the
400 free relay team that clinched the championship crown for
SU.
Individually, she placed second in the 500 free and set a school
record in the 200 free with her time of 1:56.15 and won the 200
back, as well.
Seldon, meanwhile, averaged better than seven
points per game in February and started all six games. He opened
the month with a double-double against Moravian (11 points, 12
rebounds). In SU’s regular season finale against Juniata on
Feb. 18, he had three points and nine boards. He then went on to
finish with five points and five rebounds in the semifinal matchup
with the Eagles the following Wednesday.
For the season, Seldon averaged 4.9 ppg and 4.3 rpg in 24
games.
