Women’s Swimming & Diving Picked to Finish First

TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna women's swimming and diving team has been selected to finish first in the Landmark Conference Preseason Poll. The River Hawks have won the past six Landmark championships and are looking for their seventh this season.

Susquehanna led the poll with 68 points and six of the eight first place votes. Catholic has been picked to finish second with 60 points and the remaining two first-place votes. Scranton was picked for a third-place finish (43 points) followed by Marywood (38), Drew (34), Goucher (24), Juniata (20) and Elizabethtown (16).

The River Hawks return four all-conference performers: Joann Butkus, Ashlee Weingarten, Erin McElwee and the 2015-16 Rookie of the Year Katie Willis. Willis set SU records in every event that she competed in last season (50/100/200-yard freestyle and four relays (200/400/800-yard freestyle and the 400-yard medley).

The River Hawks open their season on Friday, October 28 when the team hosts the Schweikert Relays at 6:00 p.m.
