Women's Tennis Remains Unbeaten, Tops Lancaster Bible, 9-0
SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Each Susquehanna University singles and
doubles entry topped the visitors from Lancaster Bible College in a
9-0 non-conference women's match at the James W. Garrett Sports
Complex tennis courts on Sept. 24.
Sophomore Julia Lerner (Arlington,
Va./Washington-Lee) won a straight-set match at
first-flight singles for Susquehanna (3-0 overall), 6-0, 6-1, over
her Lancaster Bible (0-7 overall) opponent.
Freshman Abby Hess (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville)
won at second-flight singles, 6-3, 6-0. Freshman Ellen
Pulsinelle (Lyndhurst, N.J./Immaculate Conception)
recorded a straight-set victory from the third flight, 6-0, 6-1.
Fellow freshman Kim Rogers (Hughesville,
Pa./Hughesville) was another straight-set winner from
fourth-flight, 6-2, 6-1. Junior Whitney Arcaro
(Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) claimed the
fifth-flight point, 6-2, 6-0, and sophomore Cassie Zerbe
(Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) took a shutout, straight-set
victory from sixth-flight, 6-0, 6-0.
The team of Pulsinelle and Lerner
outmatched their opponents in first-flight doubles, 8-1. Senior
Jessi Hass (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area)
and sophomore Allison Killeen (Media, Pa./Merion Mercy
Academy) cruised to victory in the second flight, 8-1.
Third-flight doubles was won by Rogers and
freshman Dana Fleshley (Brunswick,
Maine/Brunswick), 8-2.
