Men’s and Women’s Tennis Post Wins vs. Misericorida

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's and women's tennis teams both defeated Misericordia University on Sunday. The men won by a score of 7-2, while the women posted a close, 5-4, victory.

Sophomore Michael Hickey (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) won in straight-sets at first-flight over his Cougars opponent, 6-2, 6-2. In second-flight, fellow sophomore Mats Haaland (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) also won in straight-sets, 62-6-3.

Freshman Jeremy Neville (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley Senior HS), senior Bruce Osborn (Sayre, Pa./Sayre Area) and junior Grant Uber (Biglerville, Pa./Biglerville) all recorded singles wins for the Crusaders. Neville won in straight-sets at third-flight, 6-3, 7-6 (3), while Osborn won easily at fifth-flight, 60-6-2, and Uber handled his sixth-flight counterpart, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles action, Hickey and Haaland won in first-flight, 8-3, while juniors Alec Green (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) and Matthew Quadrini [Escondido, Calif./Brunswick (Maine)] took a 8-2 decision from third-flight.

On the women's side, sophomore Abby Hess (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) picked up the first singles point at third-flight, 6-3, 7-5.

Sophomore Ellen Pulsinelle (Lyndhurst, N.J./Immaculate Conception) won at fourth-flight, 6-3,6-2, while junior Cassie Zerbe (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) earned the final singles point at six-flight, 6-4, 7-5.

Senior Julia Lerner (Arlington, Va./Washington-Lee) teamed up with freshman Jessica Klinger (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) to win at first-flight doubles, 8-4.

At second-flight doubles, Hess and sophomore Kim Rogers (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville)defeated their opponents, 8-3.
