Women’s Tennis Defeats Juniata in Landmark Match
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Susquehanna’s women’s tennis team defeated Landmark Conference rival Juniata 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.
The win improves the Crusaders to 8-4, 3-1 on the season. The loss drops the Eagles to 6-8, 0-3.
SU won all but one singles match. Julia Lerner (Arlington, Va. / Washington-Lee) won 6-3, 6-4. Shelby O’Riley (Ware, Mass. / Quabbin Regional) won 6-3, 6-0.
Abby Hess (Hughesville, Pa. / Hughesville) was victorious 7-5, 7-5. Ellen Pulsinelle (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Immaculate Conception) won 6-4, 6-4 and Cassie Zerbe (Berwick, Pa. / Berwick Area) won 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
In doubles action, the combination of O’Riley and Hess won 8-4, posting the only SU win.
The women’s squad host Landmark Conference foe Scranton on Saturday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m. Four senior members will be honored for Senior Day.
