Women’s Tennis Won 5-4 on Senior Day

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's tennis team defeated Drew University 5-4 Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.

The Crusaders were leading 2-1 after the completion of doubles play. Number two (Linsey Sipple and Allison Lobell) and number three (Eliza Griffin and Megan Rudloff) doubles defeated their opponents 9-8 (7-5). Alyssa Fleishman and Abagail Ransom were defeated 8-1 in the number one doubles position.

Drew took the lead (3-2) when the number two (Sipple) and three (Rudloff) singles were defeated 6-3, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-3, respectively.

Fleischman tied the match when she defeated her opponent 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2 at number one singles. The lone senior – Lobell – gave SU back the lead when she won 6-4, 6-3 in the number five singles positions. The match was tied once again when Julia Spear, in the number six singles position lost 6-0, 6-4.

Griffin won the deciding match when she defeated her opponent 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 at number four singles.

The Crusaders return to action on Friday, April 22 when the team travels to East Stroudsburg University for a 4:00 p.m. match.
