TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna women's tennis player Amy Jennings has been named the Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 11.
The freshman competed in her first collegiate event this week as the River Hawks traveled to King's College to compete in the King's College Invitational.
Jennings played in the number 7/8 singles spot and defeated two opponents – Misericordia's Courtney Portarvo (2-6, 7-5, 10-7) in the first round and Marywood's Elaina Menuchelli (2-6, 6-3, 15-13) in the semi-final round – to make it to the final where she dropped 2-6, 7-5, 10-5 to Marywood's Devin Zombek.
Jennings and her partner, Julia Spear, competed at the number three doubles position and won the first round 9-8 against King's College's Thea Seasock and Alyssa Santerelli to move to the semi-finals where they won by walkover. In the finals, Jennings/Spear lost 8-3 to Misericordia's Taylor Dalton and Erika Slowicki.
The River Hawks return home to host Lycoming College on Wednesday, September 21 at 4:00 p.m.
