Woodruff Qualifies for NCAA Outdoor Track Championships
INDIANPOLIS, Ind. – Susquehanna senior distance runner
Alycia Woodruff (West Chester, Pa./West
Chester East) will compete at the NCAA Division
III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the women’s 5k.
The NCAA Championships are being held from May 26-28 at
Ohio-Wesleyan, this year’s host institution.
The women’s 5k will be run on Saturday at approximately 4:40
p.m.
Woodruff qualified for the event with her career-best time of
17:14.12 at the Bison Outdoor classic on April 15. She is ranked
18th in the field of 23 female athletes who qualified
for the championship event with this year’s top time is held
by Williams’ Annie Dear (16:49.42).
This marks the first time Woodruff has qualified for outdoor
nationals and is SU’s first-ever female distance runner to
compete at the championship event.
The top eight finishers per event at the championships will score
points for their schools and earn All-America status.
