Stam, Zamadics Reel in Landmark Conference Honors
MADISON, N.J. – Two Susquehanna track & field athletes
earned Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week, announced on
Monday. Senior Kristin Stam (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro
Area) was named the Female Field Athlete of the Week while
classmate Joe Zamadics (West Chester, Pa./West Chester
East) was named the Male Track Athlete of the Week. It
marks the first weekly honor of the season for both.
Stam placed second in the triple jump at this
past weekend’s 14th-Annual Bucknell Invitational
with a school-record jump of 11.29m, a distance that also marks the
12th-best mark in DIII this year. Stam went on to record
a jump of 4.99m in the long jump, the best mark in the conference
this year. Finally, she also ran the 60-meter hurdles and posted a
time of 9.75.
Zamadics, meanwhile, finished fifth in the mile in a time of
4:23.46, the best time in the conference this season. It was a time
that also would have placed him in the top-three in the league last
season. In addition, Zamadics anchored the DMR that narrowly missed
setting a Landmark record with its time of 10:36.11.
The men’s and women’s teams are back in action on
Friday when they host the Crusader Classic beginning at 4 p.m.
