BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's and women's track & field teams competed in their final tune-up meet before Landmark Conference Championships at Saturday's Moravian Invitational.
In field action, Ken Schetroma (Elysburg, Pa./Southern Columbia) took ninth in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.72m while Seth Landgraf (Millersburg, Pa./Millersburg Area) took 20th in the event (39.53m). Schetroma went on to take 12th in the shot put (14.59m) and Dan Smith (South Plainfield, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) was 17th (12.79m). Landgraf also took 17th in the discus (39.45m).
Brian Etz (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) was 12th in the long jump (6.20m) while in the triple jump, Michael Terwilliger (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) took 15th overall (12.25m), a career mark, and Chad Shultz (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) was 19th (11.86m). Etz went on to a 10th-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.76m, a career-best mark.
In the javelin, Jared Minori placed seventh (57.93m).
Ian Quinlan (Eagle View, Pa./Methacton/Lehigh) was SU's top finisher in the 1500 meter run with his time of 4:06.06 while Dan Martin (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) finished in 4:09.24, a career-best for the senior.
In addition to his field events, Etz went on to finish 16th in the 110 hurdle prelims with a time of 17.02, another PR for the freshman.. In the 800 meter run, Brendon Albaugh (Ewing, N.J./The Peddie School) took eighth with his time of 1:56.32 while Joe Zamadics (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was 11th (1:57.08).
Shultz finished in the 200 meter dash, posting a time of 23.58.
For the women, Jess Ranck (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) was the team's top finisher in the hammer throw with a career-best toss of 38.43m and in the shot put, Cameron Weaver (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) took home 10th (11.13m), a personal-best. Ranck was also 14th in the discus with a throw of 34.75m.
Julie Scales (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) took ninth in the pole vault (3.15m), a personal-best, and Jonaida Williams (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Twp.) placed 12th in the long jump (4.95m) and Kristin Stam (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) took 17th (4.82m). Stam and Williams went on to fifth and sixth place finishes in the triple jump with jumps of 10.95m and 10.60m, respectively. Stam's mark was a career-high.
Stam also enjoyed success in the 100 hurdles by taking13th with a personal-best time of 17.17) and Jennifer Tims (Campbell, N.Y./Campbell-Savona) took 18th in the 400 hurdles (1:13.26).
Shannon Galvin (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South), meanwhile, was the first across the finish line for SU in the 800 meter run with her time of 2:23.62, an eight-second PR.
Both teams return to action next weekend at the two-day Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Moravian.
