SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Women’s field and baseball are represented as the Pepsi/SAAC Rookies of the Month for March with freshmen Gabby Alguire (Tunkhannock, Pa. / Tunkhannock) and Taylor Luckenbill (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) recognized.
On March 22 at the Juniata Invitational, Alguire set the Susquehanna and Landmark Conference record in the javelin with a distance of 140-03 (42.74m), which currently ranks fifth in all of Division III.
At the 30th-Annual Jim Taylor Invite on March 29, Alguire again won the javelin with a throw of 135-09 (41.38m).
Alguire and the track & field teams host the Crusader Outdoor Classic on Saturday, April 5 at 10 a.m.
Luckenbill, meanwhile, has helped lead the Crusaders (15-3, 6-0 Landmark) to a school record 15-game winning streak, tying the longest in Landmark Conference history.
The right fielder leads the team in batting average (.406), hits (28), doubles (7), total bases (37) and on-base percentage (.474), hitting at number two in the order.
Starting all 18 games, Luckenbill has scored 11 runs, recorded nine RBI and is 6-for-9 on stolen bases. In six Landmark Conference games this season, Luckenbill is hitting .462 (12-for-26) with two runs, four doubles and six RBI.
Luckenbill and SU travel to Wesley on Tuesday, April 1, before taking on league opponent Moravian this weekend.
