WARTBURG, Iowa – The Susquehanna track & field team wrapped-up three days of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with two All-America finishes and another top-15 performance in the javelin.
Junior Gabby Alguire took second overall in the javelin to earn her third-straight All-America honor. Senior Jared Minori earned fifth overall – his second All-America honor – while sophomore Alex Messick took 14th.
Alguire earned second with her throw of 46.52m, well ahead of the third-place throw of 44.65. The winning throw was 48.21m, set by Cal Lutheran's Allie Hadley. Alguire has moved up in the standings each year of competition, going from seventh as a freshman to fifth as a sophomore and now second as a junior.
On the men's side, Minori's throw of 61.41m placed him fifth, just .01 meters behind the fourth-place throw of 61.42m reached by Pomona-Pitzer's Calvin Aylward. Minori placed fifth in 2014, 10th in 2013 and was 13th as a freshman.
Messick, meanwhile, took 14th with his mark of 57.51m. The winning throw was set by Westfield State's Travon Godette (68.60m). Messick placed 15th as a freshman and this year's throw was more than two meters better than last season (55.41m).
