Middle Distance and Sprints Lead Women’s Track and Field

The combination of sprinters and middle distance runners captured six top-10 finishes for the Susquehanna University Women's Track and Field team Friday night at the SU Challenge meets at the James Garrett Sports Complex Indoor Track in Selinsgrove.

Jasmine Mitchell finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.94 seconds. Her 7.91 time in the preliminary heat race is currently ranked 23rd in the nation among Division III sprinters.

Mitchell was joined with a third place finish by the 4x400-meter relay in the final event of the night. The team of Samantha Reed, Hannah Stauffer, Toni Alexander and Hannah Perkins clocked a 4:21.18 in the race.

Stauffer also had a top-10 finish in the mile with a sixth place finish. Teammate Amy Kaschak was 4th in the mile with a time of 5:21.91. Mitchell and Reed were also among the top-10 finishers in the 200-meter dash with Mitchell taking sixth in 27.54 and Reed just .20 seconds behind in eighth place.

Other top finishers included Perkins in the 400-meters with an 11th place finish in a time of 1:04.34, Keirnan Dougherty who finished 15th in the 800-meters in 2:35.37, Carlye McQueen who was 12th in the 200 and the duo of Emily Leboffe and Seema Tailor who finished in 13th and 17th places respectively in the 3,000-meters.

The River Hawks will not compete again until Feb. 18 when they host the SU Invitational.
