Senior Jasmine Mitchell won the 55-meter dash with a winning time of 7.44 seconds Saturday leading the Susquehanna University Women's Track and Field team to a fifth place finish at the DuCharme Invitational at Dickinson College.
Mitchell was third in the preliminaries but won an exciting finish with the top three sprinters crossing the finish line within a span of .02 seconds for a photo finish. She also helped the Susquehanna 4x200 relay place fourth. She teamed with Carlye McQueen, Toni Alexander and Samantha Reed for the third place finish. McQueen was also 5th in the 55-meters race.
Hannah Stauffer finished third in the mile and helped the 4x400 relay take fifth for the River Hawks. The relay Alexander, Hannah Perkins, Stauffer and Alexa Pietrini finished fifth. Perkins was also fifth in the 400-meter race.
Amy Kaschack took fourth in the mile and was part of the third place 4x800 meter relay. She was the third leg with the team of Erin Reese, Megan Wright and Katherine Mayer in the relay. Reese was also seventh in the 3,000-meter race.
The women's team was fifth out of 14 teams with 47 points. Dickinson won the team scoring with 170 points followed by Messiah (103 pts), Gettysburg (62), Lebanon Valley (54) and Susquehanna. The River Hawks finished ahead of Mount St. Mary's (45), Alvernia (43), McDaniel (28), Goucher (24) and Juniata (21) for the top ten teams.
