Seniors Gabrielle Alguire and Amy Kaschak have earned All-Region honors for the Susquehanna University Women's Track and Field Team as announced by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Monday.
Alguire earned the All-Region honor with her top regional ranking in the javelin and Kaschak was an honoree in the 3K Steeplechase as she is ranked fifth in the Mideast Region in the event.
The top five ranked athletes in each event and the top three relays area all honored as All-Region selections.
Alguire had her best effort in the javelin in the season-opening Jim Taylor Invitational at home with the top throw in the country for the 2017 season at 47.35 meters (155' 4"). The throw was the second best in school history with only Alguire's school-record throw as a sophomore of 155' 8" which was also at the Jim Taylor Invitational ranking higher.
Kaschak earned her top-five ranking with a winning time of 11:08.82 at the Landmark Conference Championship meet. The time was also a Championship record breaking effort for Kaschak. It is the third best time in school history and topped her personal best effort by 11 seconds.
