SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Succeeding both on and off the court, Susquehanna's volleyball team epitomizes the true meaning of student-athletes. This was highlighted during the NCAA's Division-III Week.
The team had a GPA of 3.48 in Fall 2011 and eight out of the 12 players achieved a GPA over 3.50.
Furthermore, the Crusaders had five representatives on the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. The league recognized fall student-athletes of sophomore standing or higher with a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2 or better. The student-athletes must have completed the fall season in good standing with their team.
Kate Reese (Wellsboro, Pa. / Wellsboro Area) was also named to the Landmark Conference All-Academic Team for the fall semester, one of four SU student-athletes honored.
On the court, the Crusaders won 19 matches this past fall and secured the number two seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs. SU defeated Catholic in the semifinals and handed Juniata their first dropped set in a conference tournament since 2001.
Emily Carson (West Caldwell, N.J. / James Caldwell) and Kaylee Monga (Rockaway, N.J. / Morris Knolls) were named All-Conference and head coach Kuuipo Tom and his staff received Coaching Staff of the Year.
