Crusaders Grab Win from Host Washington & Jefferson

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's volleyball team split another pair of matches on Sunday in the final day of the Washington & Jefferson Tournament. The Crusaders dropped their opening match to Muskingum before defeating the host Presidents in the finale.
SU fell in straight sets (20-25, 21-25, 14-25) to Muskingum but Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) recorded her first of two double-doubles on the day with 13 kills and 12 digs. She also added two block assists.
Shona St. Angelo (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) tallied 18 assists and nine digs and rookie Julia Caruso (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) had a 13-assist effort. Despite playing in just two matches against the Fighting Muskies, Morgan Jackson (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) contributed 10 digs.
Carson picked up her second double-double in the four-set victory over Washington & Jefferson with 21 kills and 13 digs. To go along with those numbers, she also added two block assists and two solo blocks. Jackson joined in her double-digit dig totals with 18.
Freshman Jess Holm (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) had a busy match with five block assists, five digs and three service aces.
For her efforts over the weekend, Carson was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Crusaders take on Elizabethtown and Messiah on Friday at Messiah before they return home host an alumni meet on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
